Meet our curator Paola Igliori

ABOUT THE BOOK

This is an esoteric memoir created within a fusion of narratives, stories, interviews, artwork and poetry. Excerpts from Paola Igliori previously books "Stickman: John Trudell", "Entrails, Heads & Tails" and"American Magus: Harry Smith" are included. "Red Flower Vision" is rich with encounters that landed Paola Igliori into the lives of many creative and famous, kindred spirits, including Lakota activist and spoken word poet John Trudell (1946-2015), beat poets Allen Ginsberg and Gregory Corso, and esoteric genius Harry Smith. Trudell holds a space in Igliori's story of art and Life: an entire section of this book is dedicated to him, within "Intimate Evocations".

Paola's life story is a unique time and place revisited, revealing life as an Italian woman in infinite quest for the roots of Creativity, Healing, and Love. Key to the telling of her story is an interview with Italian journalist Manuela de Leonardis, coupled with Paola's poetry, narratives of life projects, and excerpts from her time with John Trudell. The book is enlivened via photographs by Raymond Foye, Filippo Chia, Jeannette Montgomery Barron, and artwork by Wolfgang Laib, Harry Smith, James Turrell, Cy Twombly, Louise Bourgeois. And many more. With a book introduction by antoinette nora claypoole. http://www.wildembers.com/2020/09/

Paola Igliori

I came back 15 years ago from New York to this Estate, my grandmother’s farm that I had started running at 20, ( my roots, my tree of life that I carried with me everywhere), since I was little I was always interested in storytelling ( in my teens i was recording the Tuscia shepherds « rappers in ancient Ariosto rhymes ») !

In New York  I started exploring the roots of creativity, publishing with Rizzoli NY “ Entrails, Heads & Tails “ a book on artists and their daily life, after splitting up with the father of my son Filippo, artist Sandro Chia.

After having connected and worked with groundbreaking artists and poets, I started working with Spiritual and Shamanic researchers like dr. Mishra ( the textbook of Yoga Psychology) and Wallace Black Elk, Lakota Medicine Man.

In Africa with Paul Bowles I discovered Hecstatic and healing trance music , tracing it back to our southern Italian roots of Tammorriata and Pizzica. (That here you can hear next to the fire)

In 1992, I met Native American activist John Trudell ( co-founder of the American Indian Movement: A.I.M.) who touched me immensely. His life dedication was to dis-activating the conditionings and retrieving the essence. It was such a gift.

Coming back to this powerful Nature I tried to bring back as much as possible of what I was blessed to encounter, to share it: Multiculture, multidisciplinarity, retrieving simplicity and constant Creativity.

Meeting our Elders and going “ foraging” wild herbs and flowers. Taking Gourmet vegeterian lessons in our “ House of Herbs” to learn how to enhance them. Exploring our intact “ hood”, introducing to you gems of both extraordinary local people and places that are treasures not easy to access, in the beauty of the constant exchange with the powers of Nature, here in the heart of ancient Tuscia.
