The Garden of Senses and Myths
THE GARDEN OF THE SENSES AND OF MYTHS
Conceived in 2024 by Emilia Scarpone with the contribution of Paola Igliori, in continuity and development with the Symbolic Garden created by architect Raffaele de Vico on the 18th cent. Botanical garden between 1922 to 1929 — as a Temple to Universal knowledge where the two principles, receptive and creative, from which all of Creation springs — inform the initiatory percourse.
Here in the Garden of Senses and Myths,100 years later their attributes manifest: the Archetypes.
Myth joins Botany, and Ritual is heralded by the powerful works of Alessandro Twombly for the your very personal “Voyage of Odysseus/ Ulisse”.
At the end of each sector, the path of the Ouroboros / Archaic Origins offers associations and revelations — at times disorienting — offered by Paola Igliori.
5 sectors on the plants of the Gods.

SECOND SECTOR - Estia and Hermes
Hestia, the Greek Goddess, protector of virginal modesty, is also the Goddess of the home and hearth, venerated by the Romans as Vesta. In her temples, there are no statues in her image, her importance lies in rituals tied to the sacred fire.
A home, in all most important moments of human existence, requires her presence in order to become a hearth.
She and Hermes keep malignant forces at bay from the home and the hearth, rendering the space sacred.

The Caduceus of Hermes is also the staff of Aesculapius, God of Medicine, a symbol of balance and healing found in all pharmacies today. From the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda, dating back 5,000 years, it is clearly understood that there is no Metaphysics, and that everything is Physical! The exact image of the Caduceus is active in our Body: 3 energy channels activated by breath, in which “Chi,” life force, flows.
The central one, Sushumma, corresponds to our backbone. The 2 snakes twisting around it are Ida: Lunar, feminine, connected to the left nostril and right hemisphere, intuitive and receptive, passive with inward energy, and Pingali: Solar, masculine, connected to the right nostril and left hemisphere active and manifesting, rational, outward energy.
With the conscious practice of activating and opening the channels and allowing these vital energies to flow in a circle, we open our Kundalini, atomic energy, residing in our backspine bone, not by chance called Sacred, which flowing daily, activates infinite regenerative, healing and consciousness. All of this is contained in the Caduceus, staff of the God Hermes. The figure of the God Hermes, has also been associated to that of Hermes Trismegistus, thrice reborn - 3 times reborn:
Born as Thoth - very close to Hermes - Egyptian God of the Moon, of Magic, of measurement of time, associated with the ibis because with 1 lunar cycle he gives life, and because he was said to have deposited the cosmic egg of universal knowledge, summarized in 42 magical books, later hidden; one of these it is said to be the Emerald Table.
Inventor of writing - medicine of memory - god of Mathematics and Medicine, he weighs men’s hearts with a feather and accompanies them into the afterlife.
Born as Hermes - the God of Communication and Knowledge, swift and strategic, he also accompanies men with his Caduceus.
Born as Hermes Trimegistus, he is a legendary man of extraordinary stature, immensely wise who is credited with bringing together a complex of very ancient initiatory and philosophical writings called Corpus Hermeticum.
They contain, among other things, the 7 Hermetic principles - Mentalism, Correspondence, Cause/Effect, Polarity, Rhythm, Vibration and Resonance, Generation - The Ancients already knew that everything vibrates, the densest things as well as the subtlest things, and that vibrations resonate with each other. The most advanced Quantum Physics supports the accuracy of these principles.
The Corpus Hermeticum and the Emerald Table, which were translated into Latin by the philosopher Marsilio Ficino in 1471 and published at the Medici Court, contains ancient laws that can penetrate the secrets of the Universe by simultaneously delving into both physical and spiritual mechanisms.
The Emerald Table contains the key to the Universe “as above, so below”; the correspondence of the Microcosm and Macrocosm.
